An American
Werewolf in Kosovo
GENRE
: Action/ Humor/Horror
COMPARISON
: 'BEHIND ENEMY LINES' with 'AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON'
LOGLINE:
An American pilot is shot down over Kosovo and is turned into
a werewolf by Gypsies, who recruit him to help them fight ethnic
cleansing.
Zack Ramirez, an African-American/Chicano pilot of the Navy Air Force, embarks
on a secret mission over Kosovo and is shot down. (There is also a lower
budget version that has Zack as a MP, ambushed by Serbs). Barely alive,
he is rescued by a mysterious band of Gypsies. They have no choice but
to turn him into a werewolf, in order to save his life.
The humorous
pilot finds kinship and romance with the Gypsy Princess, KENYATTA
DUMAS. An intelligent, beautiful, yet compassionate freedom fighter
who believes in Zack and talks her father into giving him the
power of the ‘Warrior Wolf’. The Gypsies themselves
are werewolves and fought the nazis during WWII, protecting themselves
and Jews, by using this deadly gift. Thay also happen to be descendants
of famous Black/French Author, Alexander Dumas.
They give
the 'fish out of water' (Zack) a history lesson about genocide
in Europe and teach him to use his powers to help the innocent
victims of hate groups. Together they fight the Serbian killing
machine.
Later,
in an ironic twist, Zack finds that he himself was an intended
victim of ethnic cleansing by his self-hating, Hispanic Admiral,
who despises Zack’s appearance and attitude, although he
is a fellow Chicano.
The underlining
idea here is that hate groups and facists can come into power
ANYWHERE. If it can happen in Ko-so-vo, it can happen in Chi-ca-go,
too. In this new millennium, such hate groups cannot be accepted
or ignored. Here, the powers bravery and humor help to confront
and overcome these challenges.
