'Red Thunder'
GENRE : Football/ Native American/Humor
COMPARISON : Jerry Maguire with a Wounded Knee on Any Given Sunday
LOGLINE : A football player of African-American/Apache ancestry
becomes a dominating force and a nightmare to opposing offenses.
Not only does the lineman battle his way to the Super Bowl, but
he also wages war in his real life as he tries to get the Washington
Redskins to change their name .
Synopsis : COCHISE MACK. A rookie defense lineman helps unify
the community and start a movement to put pressure on the Washington
Redskins to finally change their horribly racist name. His quest
of a Super Bowl ring is as passionate as his political activism
and the fight for human rights.
Being of African-American/Apache ancestry, the sports star explores
both cultures. His mystical side is explored as an old Lakota shaman
helps him revive 'The Ghost Dance'. In December, his team mates
help him celebrate, Kwanzaa. He is challenged and inspired by his
beautiful, but fiery, childhood sweetheart who reminds him that
some things are more important than money . She is full-blooded
Apache and is now a medical doctor on the Rez.
Crazy
friends, psycho team mates and a maniac coach combine for a laugh
riot against the backdrop of Cochise
and his noble quest
of a championship … and respect.
