BLITZ OF THE BLACK WOLF
TITLE
Why ‘Blitz of the Black Wolf’? A blitz is a lightning
fast strike inflicted on one’s opponent. The lead character
is involved with many such attacks, both as a fighter pilot and
as a werewolf. The word Blitz originates in Germany. In this story,
the first person to obtain the ‘Power of the Wolf’,
was a Gypsy, running for his life during WWII. Where in Germany?
Why, ‘The BLACK FOREST’, of course. Using the BLACK
WOLF part, signifies that this may be a werewolf tale and that
fur face might be a Brother. Correct on both counts. It also shows
that skin color and race will be central to the story.
LOGLINE
The bad guys get, ‘ripped a new one’,
when Black Pilot, Zack Ramirez, gets shot down over Kosovo, is
turned into a werewolf
and then helps the defenseless, fight ethnic cleansing.
SYNOPSIS
Zack Ramirez, an African-American/Chicano pilot of the Navy Air
Force, embarks on a secret mission over Kosovo and is shot down.
Barely alive, he is rescued by a mysterious band of Gypsies. They
have no choice but to turn him into a werewolf, in order to save
his life. The Gypsies themselves are werewolves and fought the
nazis during WWII, protecting themselves by using this deadly gift
Led by Garvey, The Gypsy King, they give Zack membership in the
caravan. A history lesson about genocide in Europe is taught by
Hannibal, Garvey's dad and the Gypsy who was the first to receive
the wolf 'Blessing' during the genocides of WWII. The clan teaches
him to use his powers to help the innocent Muslim victims. Zack
finds kinship in the tribe and romance with Princess Kenyatta.
Together they fight the Serbian killing machine.
Later, in an ironic twist, Zack finds that
he himself was an intended victim of ethnic cleansing by his
self-hating, Hispanic Admiral,
who despises Zack’s Afrocentric appearance and attitude.
The underlining idea here is that hate groups can come into power
ANYWHERE. If it can happen in Ko-so-vo, it can happen in Chi-ca-go
too. Are you feeling me? In this new millennium, such hate groups
cannot be accepted or ignored. In a sense, this horror story has
a unique 'call to action' aspect to it. STOP INTOLERANCE !!!! WORLDWIDE!!!!
This story placed as a quarterfinalist in The Chesterfield Awards
and semi finalist in the Quantum Awards. I feel it will appeal
to a wide range of audiences but I think that politically aware,
young people of Chicano or Black heritage would be the target market.
Servicemen and women, particularly if they served in the Balkans,
would be very open to investing in this book. It will also sell
very well with the Greenpeace/Rage Against the Machine/ G7 protesters
too.
Strong, brave individuals who take on tyranny … and
win. That is what AMERICAN fiction is all about. This story features
war, historical references, humor, hip-hop language and breath-taking
action sequences to drive home the horrors of racial hatred and
genocide.
