My Black Heaven
by DarkMark Twain

"Wake up! Wake up! Hey Bro', that was pretty smooth, we were watching you from up here. Your life has shown fearlessness and courage, that's the kind of people we are looking for up here. Forgive me, where are my manners. Welcome my brother, you have successfully passed all tests, trials and tribulations and can now be considered an official citizen of Heaven. Congratulations! You can call me Brother Pete if you like. Someone here has been looking forward to meeting you. I'll let him show you around." Brother Pete smiles, waves, and vaporizes.

"Hi, ... my name is Marcus ... Marcus Mosiah Garvey. I'm impressed by the way you handle yourself down there son. You've made us all quite proud up here. It makes me personally joyful inside to know that you said that I inspired you, and that you would quote me frequently. It's nice to know that I didn't go through all that persecution for nothing. The beatings, the jails, the death threats and the government conspiracies would all be worth it, if more brothers like you can stand up in front of the whole world like men. Not like niggas, not like gangstas, not like property and not like pimps. LIKE MEN! I'm glad brothers are starting to realize that they have a place on the world stage and that the American struggle is tied to the global Diaspora of ALL African people. Each day more and more Black people give up hope that the white systems of power around the world will ever treat them like equal human beings.

Some are still in denial, but others realize that if we don't do something soon to solve our problems and become strong, we will be exterminated. You saw it. They try to exterminate us now with poverty, AIDS, moral decay, poison foods, hand gun saturation, unemployment, self-hatred and every kind of mind twisting drug they can conjure up from some unknown evil place. After they are done trying to destroy us, they manipulate the Media to make it look like we are at fault. Any strong leaders that tried to help the Blackman over the years have found themselves drowning in scandal or prematurely dead.

As I said before, until Black people can build a powerful government of their own, they will be at the mercy of a merciless race. Forever exploited and disrespected by the other nations of the earth. It's sad but true. You know the score. Any way let me show you around up here.

Over there is the Daily Newspaper building. Some of the writers working there are Alex Haley, Ida B. Wells, J. A. Rodgers, Martin Delaney and of course Frederick Douglass. The editor is Mr. Douglass, a great man and good friend. I was gonna name one of my ships after him you know. He was our first great leader who held international status. The intellectual prowess that he showed the world was instrumental in exposing the real horrors of American slavery. The world was shown that the Blackman is a thinking, loving, human being yearning for freedom. Of course we had disagreements. If he would have backed the Liberia initiative or supported Bishop Turner we could have saved our people rivers of blood and years of tears ...

... The newspaper building is quite beautiful isn't it? The man who built all of the structures in this area is none other than Booker T. Washington himself. His message of self reliance inspired me. Truly he is a great organizer and motivator. Booker, unfortunately, thought that if we just work hard and not bother with whites socially, that things would work out OK and we'd all live as pals. I really wish it would happen, but you know yourself where the race is at eighty years since Booker has been gone. The masses of Black people are more dependent than before and still suffering daily. Nice theory but it didn't work because white people hate us too much. It's the kind of hate that we shouldn't underestimate or think we can just scare away through legislation.

Another fellow leader in the struggle was W.E.B. Du Bois. My little aristocratic friend was also way off the mark. We had some debates and outright arguments. I still respect the man. So far history books have shown him to be a 'Great Scholarly Negro' and a voice of reason and rationality. I guess that is why they call it 'his-story'. His plans of fighting for American social and civilian rights did nothing but waste precious resources, time and lives. I am for education too, but not to make more money for our oppressor. Do for self. It was greed that brought us here so don't fool yourself thinking somebody is gonna voluntarily share with your Black Ass ...

... I think our situation in Diaspora, specifically in America, it is something like a battered wife syndrome. Each day is hell, but somehow we think that our tormentor will change and treat us the way that they would like to be treated. So we wait and wait decade after decade for a change that will not come. I was the only friend who said 'pack your suitcase and leave that fool' to the Black race. Everyone else at the time suggested self improvement and counseling for us, the abused victim. We can see how our self improvement was sabotaged at every turn and how their counseling screwed up our heads even worse than before. WE should have been GONE !

We were freed from slavery and then hung around with the same psychotic demons who have been giving us more of the same tortures each year since. Thank God the Ancient Hebrew brothers left Egypt when they were free. They had sense. They could have been just like us and called themselves 'Hebrew Egyptians', live in the slums of Cairo, and be lost physically, as well as mentally. Just like us ... just like now. It's funny how we can see that the abused wife must leave her husband, and that the Hebrews had to leave Egypt, but we can't see our own situation and our own need to separate for survival.

Hey bro, we can rap more on this later. I was just on my way over to Bob Marley's house for lunch, smoked fish. He smokes, I eat fish, ha ha. You're welcome to tag along. Maybe we'll stop by Elijah Muhammad's and grab a bean pie or two. Remember this. Just because you are dead, don't let it ruin your afterlife.
