ROCKING JERUSALEM
LOGLINE : The life of The Little Drummer Boy is
explored in this controversial Biblical story. In this musically
enriched version,
the young drummer not only
befriends Jesus as a baby, but remains as a ‘Big Brother’ to him,
throughout his life, and beyond.
Much the
same as JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR did for its generation, ROCKING
JERUSALEM will shock, amaze and inspire a new audience
... with an old message.
Truly, this story is like none other that was written previously.
The film is based on a real person who lived 2000 years ago named
Simon of Cyrene. Cyrene was an actual City in Northern Africa.
He is famous for not only witnessing the crucifixion of Christ,
but also carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem,
to the execution site.
Mixed with this true story is the fictional story of the Little
Drummer Boy, who was present when Christ was born. In this screenplay,
Simon of Cyrene is The Little Drummer Boy. Therefore he is present
when he is born into this world, and also when he leaves it.
Since he is a drummer, and from Africa, he is portrayed as an
African master drummer. A child prodigy who travels the ancient
world with
his family, performing lavish concerts with lively costumes,
dancers, singers and of course, drummers. As he grows into manhood,
the
shows become more elaborate and the positive message he brings
becomes even stronger.
He meets up with Christ at crucial times of his ministry and
uses his music to reinforce the message of his lifelong friend.
He maintains
his 'big brother' relationship with Christ throughout his life.
The music can range from hip hop, reggae, gospel, traditional
African music or all of the above. Much like 'Jesus Christ Superstar',
this production will probably be extremely successful and garner
critical acclaim. Not only does Simon's family have African features,
but so does much of the rest of the cast. The controversy of
the
ethnicity factor will set it apart from all previous productions
and create a 'must see' aire about it.
